A Poem...

Feelings come and feelings go,
And feelings are deceiving;
My warrant is the Word of God,
Naught else is worth believing!

Though all my heart should feel condemned
For lack of some sweet token,
There is One greater than my heart
Whose Word cannot be broken!

I'll trust in God's unchanging Word
Till soul and body sever;
For, though all things shall pass away,
His Word shall stand forever!

Wow!

So, at approximately 1:41 p.m, there was an 5.0 magnitude earthquake near the Ottawa-Quebec border! Tremors were felt south of there--even Mom and Lydia felt it! Apparently Lydia was lying in bed when she felt the bed move slightly, and Mom was the basement cleaning up with me when she felt it. For them, it didn't really click that it could be an earthquake, until Dad called and said he had heard about it over the news. But I didn't feel a thing! :(
No significant damage or injuries were reported, thankfully.

And, we're supposed to get severe storms either this aft. or tonight. But we shall see.
It is good to have the comfort that God is in control. We can sometimes think that we're really up to date with everything , having the news, weather, etc, right at our fingertips. But He knows more than we can ever know. Perhaps we should leave things to His care more. I'm not saying we should not be up to date with what's happening out there. But we can easily rely on those conveniences, instead of God, ultimately.
I have the same problem.

Very good quote...

"A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of opportunities....

An optimist makes opportunities of difficulties"

Author unknown
(Where I found it from: http://walkingthroughthefire.wordpress.com/page/4/)

Very true, isn't it?
I confess, I am more of a pessimist than an optimist. But if we more and more learn to see things through the light of God's Word, He will help us to see His purpose (if not always right away) in the hard things--that they are for our benefit. (Lord's Day 1, HC)

I wonder- what is more optimistic than the reality that God is always there?

He goes before me

Lately I've been feeling discouraged.
The thing is, I'm a perfectionist. And I'm hard on myself, even though I know I shouldn't be.
I am still waiting and learning to trust (though not always patiently) for Him to show me where He wants me to go. I know I shouldn't get bogged down.

But I can escape these thoughts-through Him.
I can to Him go to anytime I want; I have a beautiful family; I'm blessed with talents in music and being able to serve Him through that, along with many other things I am still learning.
I'm also blessed to be encouraged, as I am through the faithful preaching of the Word every Sunday; through talking with my parents; by reading His Word and other books; and by reading other people's blogs. (thanks, guys!)

I'm reading Deuteronomy, about when Moses reminded the people of what God had done for them and how they rebelled. (Chapter 1:19) But the verses that really struck me were when Israel was afraid because of the greatness of the people they had to fight against.
And Moses reminded them, vs 29-33(ESV):

"Then I said to you, 'Do not be in dread or afraid of them. The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight for you, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place. Yet in spite of this word you did not believe the Lord your God, who went before you in the way to seek you out a place to pitch your tents, in fire by night and in the cloud by day, to show you by what way you should go."

I'm not saying that God has to give me signs to prove He is there, but it is beautiful to be reminded of His goodness to me- as He has "carried me" throughout my life.
He goes before me and He has a plan for my life.
How comforting!

I think I'll blow off the dust now...

Yes...it's been too long. Probably because of lack of anything to say and lack of 'commenters'.

But it's "twenty-ten"! Time for a fresh perspective?

We are all still alive after a nasty cold virus came through. Poor Dad is still not over it.
After a lovely March break weather-wise, (once it hit 17 degrees Celsius!) we're back to cold temps again.

We're all busy with school-work and such. I'm on the job search again.
In some ways it's a blessing- I can spend more time on music.
But it's hard to be patient and wait for the Lord. He is teaching me to be patient. And I can trust that He will turn it to my benefit.

I feel old....

Yesterday at work, I was setting up the umbrellas for the picnic tables. (The second one always gives me grief!) At the back of my mind I'm thinking "fast, hurry up," etc...
Then a mom with a little girl on a pink trike and pushing a stroller came into the parking lot. The little girl had on the cutest helmet I've ever seen!
Then I overheard her asking her mom why I was eating out here (I wasn't actually)
"No," her mom said, "She's setting up the umbrellas".

Note:
The next bit is a bit fuzzy; perhaps due to my 'oldness'? I did remember it clearly yesterday...

Then I think she said something like why I was doing that.
And her mom said something like, "because the lady's working"
At this I kind of chuckled to myself,
then I thought, "A lady??"
I know I'm not a kid anymore, and probably don't look much like a teen anymore, (except for the pimples) so I guess I'm a "lady"!
Okay, you're probably thinking, "well, duh!", but yesterday it just hit me, shocked me, I guess, that I'm a lady!

Hence the title...I'm feeling pretty old!
